Fishery welcomes International Golfer Tetsuji Hiratsuka

The abandonment of play at the Scottish Open at Castle Stuart meant the Fishery had the opportunity to welcome international golfer Tetsuji Hiratsuka. A keen fly fisherman, he arranged to visit the Fishery with his manager, physio and caddie.

The other three had not flyfished before and did really well given the conditions. However, Tetsuji, who has won 5 times on the Japanese Tour and twice on the Asian Tour, showed great skill catching fish in virtually horizontal driving rain!

His golf waterproofs came in handy!

Dunlichity Cup Heat 4 - Saturday 9 July

The changeable weather conditions led to difficult conditions for the 4th Heat of the Dunlichity Cup. Indeed, given the fact that the Scottish Open at Castle Stuart was rained off, it said a lot about the competitors that they actually participated and caught some fish!

Inevitably, not many fish were caught (16 taken) and the largest fish of the day at 5lb 12oz won the Heat for overall competition leader David Skinner. In second place, with two fish to 4lb 8oz was Bob Todd. One ounce behind in third place was Tim Watson.

The bottle for the largest fish outside of the top three was won by Richard Franklin.
The result meant that David Skinner consolidated his position at the top or the leader board. George Skinner's blank meant that he has been overtaken by Robert Todd and James Gray.
The next Heat of the Cup is on Saturday 13 August.

Mayfly Angling Club

It has been our pleasure over the past three days, to welcome the Mayfly Angling Club from Edinburgh to Dunlichity House. Organiser Harry Dickinson brought up a group of 12 and took over the B&B and Self-Catering for three nights.

The guys spent a considerable amount of time around the lochans during their stay, and only slightly less time in the hot tub!

The last afternoon consisted of a 6 peg competition followed by a BBQ. The competition was won by pre-tournament favourite, Dave Grierson, followed in second place by Graham Cameron and in third, Andrew Leslie.

We hope they all had a safe journey home and can recommend them as a great group to any future tour venues!

Big Fish Already for July's Troutmaster Competition

We already have three good-sized fish on the board for July's Troutmaster competition. Leading is Liam Skinner, who caught a 9lb fish on 29th June. In second place at present is George Noble, with a fish of 7lb 12 oz and in third place is Darren Skinner, with a 6lb 9oz fish.

There are still plenty of large fish in the lochans since our last stocking.
