Conditions were good and fish were showing. Jamie MacGregor Snr, last year's Champion, said before the first peg, that he was going to see how the other anglers were doing before deciding on tactics. This strategy lasted for 5 minutes of the first peg, by which time, he had caught the biggest fish of the day at 6lb 13oz!
Whether intimidated by the big fish, other competitors returned fish during the early pegs, only to blank during the later pegs. This resulted in only 6 people taking fish and the 4,3,2 and 1 points of the remaining places being untaken!
After one heat, Jamie heads the table with 1 points, followed by Dean Geddes (9) and Colin Machray (8).
The next heat of the competition is on Saturday 6 June at 09.00.
