We have woken up this morning to an overnight frost that has frozen a third of the top lochan. Our hope is that the ice will burn off early on, so the Fishery will open albeit with limited fishing until the ice clears.
The Bothy water is back on so the toilet is available.
Good fishing yesterday, with Martin Patience catching 13 ("and lost as many"). Reg Cambridge also caught fish, including a Troutmaster entry of 3lb 7oz. This means that we now have three at the top of the leaderboard, all with the same weight! Today is the last day of the February round of Troutmaster.

We opened for the first day of the year yesterday.
George Skinner from Avoch caught 23 fish and George Swanson caught 10.
We have decided to enter fish for the February 2011 Troutmaster competition, which runs until tomorrow (Sunday 20th February). There are currently two fish at the top of the leader board both on 3lb 7oz.
The bottom lochan has now fully thawed but there remains no water in the Bothy (therefore no toilet).
Still on Winter Rates.

Finally, we have opened for business again this morning.
The bottom lochan is still about a third frozen but the top lochan is clear.
The banks at the top are still quite damp and so care will be needed.
The biggest problem is that the water in the Bothy is still frozen so there is no toilet. We have lit a fire to help the thawing process but best to spend a penny before you come. We will make sure that there is sufficient drinking water for tea / coffee.
The date of the 2010 Troutmaster fish-off will be published shortly.
We are still on the winter rates until the end of March.
The weather forecast over the next few days is again very mixed, so still best to check the blog or call before setting off.

As at 08.00 this morning (Sunday 6 February), following a deep frost overnight, at least 50% of the top lochan is covered by a thin layer of ice.
We will monitor it throughout the morning and will update the Blog if there is any significant thawing.

Edit Post
As at 14.30 today, Saturday 5 February, the top lochan has fully thawed but the bottom lochan is still 50% frozen.
Provided that there is not a substantial frost overnight, or a significant rainfall which will waterlog the banks, then we intend to open tomorrow (Sunday) at 09.00.
We still have to check the plumbing in the bothy.
We will update the Blog tomorrow morning, but feel free to call after 08.00 to check that we have opened.
