Fishery Update - Saturday 27 October

Yesterday, we saw the first snowfall of the year, with the lochans getting a light dusting which remained overnight.

The lochans received a full stocking earlier in the week, and there has been some good sport, with fish being taken at lower depths as the temperature drops.  George Phillip, John Allison and Martin McCool all had good success towards the end of the week.

The last Troutmaster month (21 September to 20 October) finished with the following badge winners:

1.  Cairan MacMillan (Lower Foyers) - 7lb 9oz (caught on a Mayfly!)
2.  George Skinner (Avoch) - 5lb 2lb
3= Colin Keith (Cromary) - 3lb 2oz
3= Neil Pirrie (Inverness) - 3lb 2oz

The report of the last Dunlichity Cup heat has been posted on the Blog, and the final heat will be next Saturday, 3 November at which, in addition to the heat prizes, the season awards will be made.

The clocks go back tonight and daylight hours will be reduced.  As a result, our new winter rates will come into effect.  These will be covered on a separate blog.

2012 Dunlichity Cup Heat 6

14 competitors turned up to the penultimate Dunlichity Cup heat of the season to be greeted by unusually sunny and calm conditions.  It was clear that the flat surface conditions would prove a challenge and although many fish were showing, catching them was clearly a different matter!

Colin Keith secured his fourth top three place of the season by taking first place with two fish to 5lb 5oz.  Magnus Macdonald took second place from Sean Cowan with a fish in the last five minutes of the last peg!  Graham Matheson won the "largest fish" bottle.

The results of the 6th Heat consolidated Colin Keith's place at the top of the leaderboard, and with only one heat left, put him in an unassailable position.  Competition for second place has hotted up, with 9 competitors in with a realistic change of securing Runner-Up spot.

The final heat of the 2012 Dunlichity Cup will be held on Saturday 3 November.  In addition to the Heat prizes that will be up-for-grabs, we will also be presenting the overall season prizes, including the Winner and Runners-Up trophies and cash prizes and fishery vouchers for the next five finishers.

A good time for a Troutmaster badge?

There are only 5 days to go before the end of the October Troutmaster month and there is currently only one fish on the board (and that fish is only 3lb 2oz!).

The top three qualifying fish qualify for a badge, an entry in the Trout Fisherman magazine and entry into the 2012 Troutmaster fish-off.

To help our customers qualify, we are introducing a new ticket until Saturday.  For the price of an all day sporting ticket (£20), the ticket will be an all day, one fish (any fish) ticket.

Any queries, then please call or email us.

Saturday 13 October - Fishery Re-opens

This is an updated blog.  We had anticipated that we would remain closed on Saturday given the weather over the past 36 hours.  However, as there was less rain overnight than anticipated, we have re-opened this morning.

Whilst the banks of the lochans are still quite wet and will need to be treated with caution, fish are moving!

Fishery Closed - Friday 12 October

Given the heavy overnight rain, the forecast for today and the likely impact on the lochan banks, we have decided not to open today.  If anyone is desperate to fish, call us on 01808 521442.

We will see what the banks are like early tomorrow and make a decision then regarding fishing tomorrow.
