Only two days left to get that fresh trout for the Christmas dinner table!
The ice has cleared and although the banks are wet, they are okay with caution. Unfortunately, we still have no water or power at the Bothy.

Most of the ice has cleared so the Fishery has reopened. The banks are still very wet so please take care when moving around the lochans.
The thaw has brought with it, the customary burst water pipe, so there is currently no water / power to the Bothy (therefore no toilets). We will update the Blog once the problem has been rectified.

With only two heats left, the competition for final league places was hotting up!
The two current leaders, Gordon Haggart and George Ritchie both took their fish early on, with both finishing before three pegs were completed. Third placed George Skinner failed to close in on the two leaders, whilst last year's winner, Liam Skinner continued his good form by winning his second heat on the trot.
In second place was David Skinner with George Haggart third. Jamie Macgregor Snr won the bottle.
Gordon Haggart goes into the final heat with a three point lead over George Ritchie, with George Skinner third. The 2017 winner will come from the three leaders, but eleven competitors could still win one of the seven end-of-season prizes.

With only three heats left in this year's competition, leader George Skinner's absence gave others an opportunity to close the gap at the top of the leader board.
There was lots of action on hte first peg, with 25 fish being caught. Only three were taken, and a number of competitors were left ruing their decision not to take at least one fish early on.
Darren Skinner had to leave after the fourth peg, and left leading with two fish at 4lb 8oz. The lead only lasted to the fifth peg, when eventual winner Liam Skinner took his second fish for a bag of 5lb 9oz. Graham Matheson took third place with 3lb 14oz, and Ian Young took the bottle for the biggest fish outside of the top three.
After the sixth heat, we have join leaders at the top - George Ritchie and Gordon Haggart, closely followed by George Skinner one point behind. Any one of nine competitors could still win with two heats to go, and this is the first time that going into the penultimate heat, we know that nobody can win the Cup until the last heat.
The seventh heat is on Saturday 7 October at 09.00.

12 anglers competed in what could probably be called "The 1lb 13oz Heat", given the number of fish caught with the same weight during the day.
As a consequence, bag weights were lower than normal, with only two competitors taking two fish. League leader Gordon Haggart blanked, as did third place Ian Young.
The heat was won by George Ritchie, second was John Allison and third was George Skinner. Reigning champion Liam Skinner won the bottle and secured his first points of the season.
In the overall standings, George Skinner now leads, with George Ritchie second and long time leader, Gordon Haggart third. With three heats remaining, any one of 13 competitors can still win the Cup.
The next heat is on Saturday 2 September at 09.00.

15 competitors lined up for Heat 4 of this year's Dunlichity Cup.
Although many fish were caught during the first peg, none were taken. George Ritchie made up for this in Peg 2, taking both of his fish for a combined weight of 4lb 3oz. League leaders Gordon Haggart (3lb 15oz) and George Skinner (4lb 0oz) also took their first fish in Peg 2.
It was in Peg 3, however, that eventual heat winner Ian Young caught the largest fish of the day, at 6lb 5oz. He later caught a 2lb 15oz fish to finish on 8lb 4oz. George Skinner came second with a bag of 5lb 9oz and Darren Skinner third, with 4lb 5oz. Gordon Haggart took the bottle but did not add to his 3lb 15oz fish.
In the overall standings, George Skinner moved closer to Gordon Haggart, with Ian Young and George Ritchie also consolidating their positions in the league.

14 competitors attended Heat 3 of this year's Dunlichity Cup.
David Skinner quickly went into the lead, taking his two fish totalling 8lb 3oz within the first two pegs. As in the recent Troutmaster fish-off, this meant that he had to watch others close in on him in the remaining pegs.
League leader Gordon Haggart caught the largest fish of the day in Peg 3 but was unable to add to it.
Graham Matheson (6lb 0oz) and Ian Young (5lb 14oz) closed in on David, but a quiet two remaining pegs meant that he held onto first place.
After 3 Heats, Gordon Haggart remains in first place from George Skinner and Graham Matheson. Last year's winner and runner-up, Liam and Jamie still have everything to do!

The continued absence of some of last season's high fliers meant that other competitors had the opportunity to take advantage by gaining valuable league points.
Gordon Haggart followed up his second place in the first heat with top spot in the second heat with a bag of 7lb 2oz. George Skinner came second with 6lb 3oz and Graham Matheson third with 5lb 4oz. Ronnie Macdonald won the bottle.
Last year's winner Liam Skinner and Heat 1 winner George Ritchie both failed to trouble the leader board!
After two heats, Gordon Haggart leads the table with 19 points from George Skinner, with Neil Pirrie and Ross Fraser joint third.

It is with great regret that we report the sad death of Dunlichity regular, Reg Cambridge. Aged 93, Reg was known to many of us for his dry sense of humour and his fly fishing prowess. He competed in the Dunlichity Troutmaster fish off only a few years ago.
His funeral will be held at Inverness Crematorium at 10.00am on Wednesday 3 May 2017.

The 2017 Dunlichity Cup got underway in April. Wet conditions meant that the heat took place a week later than normal, and as a result, a number of regular competitors were otherwise engaged. Last year's top three were missing, giving others the chance to set the early pace.
Everyone caught fish and all but two of the fish taken were 3lbs or above.
George Ritchie, who was forth last year, took the honours with 7lb 5 oz. Gordon Haggart and Scott Fraser were joint second, with Gordon taking the second prize on countback. James Watson took the bottle.
Everything to play for!

After a hard fought season, the final positions in the 2016 Dunlichity Cup were decided at the November heat. Three competitors (Liam Skinner, Jamie Macgregor Snr and Tim Watson) were in a position to win the overall competition.
The final heat was dominated by Gordon Haggart, who finished in first place with a bag of 7lb 2oz. Neil Pirrie was in second place with 6lb 7oz and Jamie Macgregor Snr and John Allison shared third place with 5lb 9oz each (Jamie took third on countback). David Skinner took the bottle for a fish of 4lb 13oz.
The results of the last heat meant that 6th place and 5 points were enough for reigning champion, Liam Skinner to retain his title from Jamie Macgregor Snr, with Tim Watson a creditable third.
