2020 Dunlichity Cup Heat 1

At long last, we were able to hold our first competition since Lockdown, with 12 anglers competing in the first heat of this year's Dunlichity Cup.  Everyone observed the Covid-19 protocols introduced to keep the fishery a safe environment for all.

A strong, swirling wind made conditions challenging but fortunately, the forecast rain held off.  Fish were caught from the first five minutes of the first peg, but many competitors held off taking both fish.  This led to come frantic casting during the last peg.

Liam Skinner took first prize with a two fish bag at 4lb 13oz, with Jamie MacGregor Snr second, and David Skinner third.  In all, eight competitors collected their first points of the season.

The next heat is on Saturday 26 September at 09.00.

Dunlichity Cup Resumes Saturday 12 September

After numerous requests, we have decided to resume the Dunlichity Cup competition.

This year, the Dunlichity Cup will consist of five heats, held every fortnight.  The format will remain the same (any two fish), but there will be some changes:

  • Timings will be the same but there will be no lunch provided so competitors will need to bring their own food.
  • The draw for pegs and all movements around the lochans will be conducted in accordance with our Covid-19 arrangements.
  • Fishery prices have risen this year, but as no food is now being provided, we will keep the competition price at £27.
  • Prizes will be a third of the entry fees taken, up to a maximum pot of £120.  Pot will be shared half to the winner, a third to the runner up and a sixth to the third place.
  • The overall Competition winner will receive £50, the Cup and a personal trophy at the end of the season.  Second place will receive £25 and a personal trophy.
The dates for the heats are as follows:

Heat 1 - Saturday 12 September
Heat 2 - Saturday 26 September
Heat 3 - Saturday 10 October
Heat 4 - Saturday 24 October
Heat 5 - Saturday 7 November

If you have any queries about the competition, please get in touch with us.
