Dunlichity Cup 2021 Heat 6 Results
17 competitors arrived for Heat 6 of this year's competition. Fishing conditions were good.
If you have found this post interesting or, you know anyone who might, please use the share buttons below to tell your online community about it. Thank you.
A lot of fish were caught on the first peg but only four were taken. David Skinner held an early lead with a fish of 4lb 6oz. Denis Howell was first to take two fish (3lb 6oz bag) but after five pegs, Graham Matheson took what was to be a winning lead with a bag of 5lb, including a fish at 3lb 3oz.
Jamie MacGregor Snr was second (4lb 11oz) and David Skinner was third with one fish.
The Heat 6 results open up the league table, and any one of 7 competitors can still win the cup. Jamie MacGregor Snr leads with 39 points, followed by Graham Matheson (38 points) and Jimmy Cooper (37 points). All to play for!
The seventh heat of this year's cup is on Saturday 30 October at 09.00.

2017 Dunlichity Cup Heat 2
The continued absence of some of last season's high fliers meant that other competitors had the opportunity to take advantage by gaining valuable league points.
Gordon Haggart followed up his second place in the first heat with top spot in the second heat with a bag of 7lb 2oz. George Skinner came second with 6lb 3oz and Graham Matheson third with 5lb 4oz. Ronnie Macdonald won the bottle.
Last year's winner Liam Skinner and Heat 1 winner George Ritchie both failed to trouble the leader board!
After two heats, Gordon Haggart leads the table with 19 points from George Skinner, with Neil Pirrie and Ross Fraser joint third.
The third heat of the Dunlichity Cup is at 09.00 on Saturday 3 June.

Dunlichity Cup 2015 Heat 4 - Saturday 4 July
Whilst 4th July means fireworks in USA, anyone expecting fireworks in the 4th heat of the Dunlichity Cup were in for a disappointment!
Having carried out a full stocking the day before, it would have been fair to assume that a lot of fish would be caught. This was not the case, and we were all left scratching our heads as to the reasons for the poor returns (more about this later).
One person who was not worried was overall leader Liam Skinner, who, with the largest fish of the day, secured another ten points. Second place went to Tim Watson (the only competitor to take two fish) with James Gray in third place. Jamie Macgregor Jnr had the largest fish outside of the top three.

After the competition, Graham Matheson (who had blanked) stayed on and caught 5. The following morning, Dean Geddes caught 10, including an 8lb 2oz fish. In subsequent days, we have had 8 or 9 double figure catches. One of the fish caught during the competition was spooned to see if it was tadpole gorging that had caused the hard fishing conditions, but it only contained midge pupa. So, it is still a mystery (I still think air pressure!).
Lets hope conditions improve for Heat 5, which will be on Saturday 1 August.

2012 Troutmaster Fish-Off Date Confirmed
The date for the 2012 Troutmaster Fish-Off is confirmed as Saturday 18 May.
This year's final at Grafham Water has been moved to 2nd September. This allows us to have our Fish-Off later in the season when hopefully the weather is better.
We will shortly be writing to all who have qualified, formally inviting them to compete.

Donald Patience is Dunlichity's 2011 Troutmaster Champion
16 of Dunlichity Trout Fishery's top anglers braved the elements in mid-April to compete in the fish-off to determine the 2011 Troutmaster Champion. Prizes went to the top five competitors, with the winner receiving £100, a personal trophy and sponsorship towards the UK Fish-Off at Grafham Waters.
32 fish were taken on the day, to a combined weight of more than 130lbs! Hendrick Cornelius (12lb 0oz) and George Noble (12lb 3oz) took 5th and 4th places respectively. Will Jack set the early pace with a bag of 12lb 8oz (including the biggest fish of the day at 8lb 1oz) which was good enough to secure 3rd place. Ist place went to Donald Patience, with a bag of 13lb 6oz, which was good enough to edge George Skinner into 2nd place with his bag of 13lb 0oz.
Dean Geddes also deserves a mention for his two fish bag of 11lb 10oz (but we won't mention the one around 3lbs that he put back!).
Watch out for a later blog to find out how Donald fared at the UK Fish-Off at Grafham Waters.
