Fishery Reopens - Wednesday 8 January

Although the banks are quite wet due to the overnight rain, all of the ice has now gone, so we have reopened the fishery.

Normally at this time of year, we have twelve inches of ice on the lochans!  Given the mild winter that we have had so far, it is a case of us reviewing the fishery status on a daily basis.  However, the lochans are fishing well and it is a good time to get a Troutmaster badge!

If you are unsure as to whether we are open or not, then either check the blog or give us a call on 01808 521442.

Fishery Reopens - Monday 30 December

We hope you all had a great Christmas.

The layer of ice that we have had on both lochans has finally gone and, although the banks are a little soft, we have reopened this morning.

Time to get those Christmas presents out of their wrappers and catch fish before the cold weather really sets in.  Also a good time to get a Troutmaster badge!

Fishery Closed - Saturday 9 November and Sunday 10 November

Woke up this morning to a layer of ice over both lochans.  Given the very low temperatures that are forecast for this evening, we have decided to stay closed for the weekend and to review the situation on Monday.

In 7 years here, the earliest that we have previously lost a day to ice was 20th November!

This is getting annoying!!!

A substantial fall of snow overnight has left the Lochans with a reasonable covering this morning.  More snow is forecast for later.

Fishery Closed

Temperatures plunged overnight, leaving a thin layer of ice across both lochans.  Given the forecast over the next few days, it is unlikely that we will be able to open in the near future.

Fishery Reopens - Wednesday 2 January

The lochans have fully thawed out but the banks are very wet.  In addition, we have a couple of burst pipes in the Bothy which will require attention.

We plan to reopen this morning (2 January) at 10.00 am.  There will be no water or toilet facilities until the bursts have been repaired, and care will be needed on the banks to ensure safety and minimise damage.

Any further updates will be posted on the Blog.
