Dunlichity Cup - Saturday 13 August

The next round of the Dunlichity Cup is on Saturday 13 August at 09.00.
After a few weeks of poor conditions, we have started to have good numbers of fish caught again, with Ron Maslin catching 9 yesterday, and a father and son team who are on holiday both reaching double figures today.
The banks are likely to be very wet on Saturday, but unless there is a significant deterioration in the weather over the next 24 hours (in which case we will post an update on the Blog), the heat will go ahead.

Current Fishing Conditions
Over the last two weeks, fishing conditions have been very difficult.
The high temperatures of last week, coupled with low water flows from the feeder springs have led to high water temperatures and low oxygen levels. These conditions have resulted in the fish being lethargic and unwilling to "play". In addition, some fish are not surviving being caught and returned.
We have now installed an aerator to increase the oxygen flow into the top lochan and this is already improving mortality rates!
Visitors are seeing lots of fish but are not managing to get many hooked!
As a result of the conditions, and as a guesture of goodwill to our regulars, we have decided to reduce the price of all of our tickets by £2 per ticket until our next stocking (which should be within the next 7 - 10 days).

Fishery Update - Monday 21 March
There is still snow around the bottom lochan but the top lochan is now virtually snow-free. The snow has, however been replaced by a lot of surface water, making the banks waterlogged.
If the weather is reasonably dry over the next two days, we hope to be able to reopen on Wednesday. We will update the blog as soon as we are open. Alternatively, call before you travel!

Weather Update - Wednesday 16 March
We have had a number of calls this morning. Unfortunately, although it is clear down in Inverness, we still have 10" of snow up here. There is no chance of fishing until after the weekend because even if the snow does clear, the snow melt will waterlog the lochan banks.
The Top Lochan at 10.00 am this morning.
We will give a further update once things begin to clear up.

Monday 15 Nov - Lochans frozen
Minus 5 down on the lochans last night has left a thin crust of ice across both lochans making them unfishable today. Given that it is a thin crust, we are hopeful that it will thaw reasonably quickly.

First Ice of the Winter!
We woke up to the first ice of the winter on the bottom lochan today.The ice was on the shallower, bothy-side of the lochan and didn't inhibit fishing. It does, however emphasise the importance of checking the blog for fishery conditions as the winter progresses. We will ensure that the blog fully reflects current fishing and access conditions.
